Her curiosity in the dance form has taken her to several countries to study with and be inspired by the best teachers across UK, USA, Egypt and Europe.
A Feminist at heart, Leena has been striving to ensure bellydance finds its true place as an art form in India – where a misogynist culture threatens its growth.
She organized the World’s First Bellydance Flash Mob supported by the One Billion Rising Movement in tribute to Nirbhaya – the woman who was tortured and gangraped.
She curated two Bellydance Festivals in India for two consecutive years. The 2016 version being the largest. These festivals were aimed elevating Bellydance as a legitimate art form, a spiritual practice and a powerful expression of the awakened woman.
Leena travels for shows in India and abroad while offering regular workshops.
