Style

While focusing on bellydance, Leena has cross trained in other forms which lends flair and solidity to her technique while serving as a resource for creativity.

While she has created numerous bellydance fusion pieces, her style is veering back to Egyptian Bellydance styling which is her current focus
One can describe her style as individualistic, free spirited, fiery and graceful.

Training

Her training spans across Egypt, UK and USA. She has taken group and private lessons with the following: Farida Fahmy (Egypt), Colleena Shakti (USA), Latifa Nejim (Russia), Kristina Derkach (Russia), Nesma (Spain), Lubna Emam (Egypt), Anna Borisova (Russia), Natalie Nazario (USA), Alida Lin (Taiwan), Silvia Salamanca(Spain), Nadia Nikishenko (Russia), Nika Mlakar (Slovenia), Mia Sha’uri (Puerto Rico), Nour (Egypt), Dalia Carella (USA), Bevin Victoria (USA) while she has taken group lessons only with several more renowned, inspiring teachers from across the globe.

Cross training

She has also trained with master teachers while in Attakkalari (India’s premier professional dance school) such as Clare from UK (ballet), Michel from France (contemporary) and Raam Kumar (Kalaripayattu).

Intrigued by other forms, Leena has actively has also explored Burlesque, Modern contemporary, Indian Classical forms (Kathak, Oddisi), American Tribal Style (ATS), Latin styles (Salsa, capoeira), Contact Improvisation and Physical Theatre.
